To amend the Superannuation Act 1839 so far as relates to the Superannuation Allowances to be granted to Civil Servants who have served in unhealthy climates.

The Act has, it is understood, been framed to meet the case of British Consuls stationed in unhealthy climates.

Under the Pension Minute of this Colony, Officers already entitled, as Your Lordship observes, to count three for two of service during the first ten years, and I conclude that it is now intended to carry out the principle from and after the ten years, Services in unhealthy climates as distinguished from those serving in healthy climates, and if I rightly apprehend Your Lordship's views, I understand that corresponding advantages will be given to those Colonial Officers who may be serving in the same or similarly unhealthy climates.

Some weeks previous to the receipt of Your Lordship's Circular Despatch, a copy of the Imperial Act had reached the Colony and the leading Officers then met for the purpose of framing a Memorial to Your Lordship, praying for...
